First Official Community Haunt, Herlong, CA, 1998
This haunt did not have an official theme. I cannot for the life of me guess why we did not take a single photo of the setup or event! It was held in the Herlong, CA community center and we charged a dollar to get in. It was a walk-through made from black painter's plastic draped over PVC pipes. There were sheets separating the different sections. The first room was a strobe hallway with sheets and spider webs to disorient them, next came a hall where someone would poke their head out of a sheet or pop a balloon to scare them. Next was the creepy ghost rocking chair room and then the guests went into the cemetery. We actually brought in real dirt from outside! The next room was where we had a life-size foam coyote archery target with a life-size WEREWOLF archery target! That beast stood about 7 feet tall at least and was very imposing with a red pin spot shining from underneath! The last room was a sort of "sacrifice altar" room. Someone on the altar moaning and some scare-actors surrounding ready to stab the victim. We made hardly any money but we did have a few guests come through more than once. Below is the initial plans for the building.
Second Official Home Haunt, Susanville, CA, 1997
This year we opened our apartment up to those brave enough to ToT with us. The outside had a scare-actor dressed up as a "stuffed dummy" and would scare ToTers as thy come up. Those brave enogh to enter further were met with a simple walk-through separated with bed sheets thumb tacked to the ceiling! OMG! One of our other scare-actors was grabbing at people's feet from under the dangling sheets. At the end was a cauldron full of candy.
