OOPS! Time got away from me and I'm not really much of a blogger :P I am currently working on more tombstones and always on the lookout for stuff to put in the haunt!

2017 Haunt is underway. I already have a theme and some new effects and props in the works. Guess you'll just have to stay tuned to find out more!
With just 2 months until setting up the haunt, I have been spending every day finishing previous year's props and creating new ones for this year. I put some of the things I have been working on in the 2016 Setup gallery but some I will save for the event ;P Stay tuned for more updates and pics!
Been a while since the last updates so here's what we've been working on this year:
Grew our own corn for corn maze, working on Bottomless Pit prop and carnival props. Got more skeletons - can you ever have enough? Made more props for freak show walk-through. Picked up a few foam fingers and a bug cage from Michael's, as well as a pumpkin. Carved the pumpkin and painted the foam fingers. See Gallery for pictures!
Some of the props we re working on that are finished are: Glowing coals and new graveyard trees. Now on to that tombstone!
I realized I was missing a FAQ page with rules for the haunt and other thing so I finally added one!
Spring finally seems to be arriving and it is great weather to start making props! My craft pumpkins are not for sale in stores yet to I'll start my new project of making my first to
I really want to start carving some pumpkins now. I have at least 6 I want to do but there are no stores selling them right now ...
I finally got to uploading all of the pictures from 2011 and 2012. Enjoy! As always, if you have any comments of questions you can contact me using the form on the home page.
So ... sadly we didn't get to put up a walk-thru haunt again this year. BUT that doesn't mean there's no scares! We have candy for the ToTers and I'll be in a costume or two to scare the neighbors. We were lucky that we had some competition move down the street this year! Some people hate it but I welcome it! Also I have added to the featured local haunts page. Lots of awesome decorated homes this year!
I don't know why I have never done it before! A "Haunted House" will be this year's theme! I don't wanna give too many details away but we will have a LOT of fun planning this one!
The website has been redone. I really hope you like it and I hope it is still user friendly. Please leave me a comment on the main page if it is not or if you just want to let me know anything else!
Also, we decided to have the haunt at our new house! More details to come! It's currently 195 days til Halloween! OMG moving is really cutting into prop making time! I have 4 craft pumpkins yet to carve, plus I got two massagers that need hacking for props. And then there's the location ... We may just have it at our new place after all. It's kind of out of the way so ... we'll just have to see how many we get.
Woo hoo! No more guess-timating! I finally got a hand-held counter! Now we can have an accurate head count of haunted house attendees!
Outside decorations and lighting and also the Mine entrance and interior walls are setup. BUT THIS WIND has got to stop! Now I have to re-do the graveyard when the wind stops,...whenever that is!
All of the home-made tombstones for 2010 are finished and weather tested (actually just left them in the yard with the sprinklers on :O ) You can find them in the "Props we Made" under "tombstones".
Also all of the dynamite is finished, too! As soon as October 1st comes, I'll be putting out some decorations and hope they don't blow away! Or get snatched! so far our neighborhood has been great with not bothering the Halloween decorations we put up. I finished 3 of the 4 rocks! They were spray painted at first BUT they were still flaking off bits here and there so I decided to coat them in DryLoc to seal in all the rocky goodness and then re-paint them ... though they look pretty cool as they are. I AM going to paint directional arrows on them in invisible GITD paint and place them in the walkthru haunt near blacklights. Should make for a really cool effect!
Yard sales have been especially fruitful this year! Many people want to unload their Halloween decor and props, as well as great finds of things I can make into costumes and / or props :)
In addition, I have the parts needed to start the Bottomless pit...now to ACTUALLY start it......... OK, so here are the updates: Crappy spider/skull prop into a ghoul finished! Jumping BLucky prop finished! 1/2 mine entrance finished! (those pallets are heavy!). Don't know if I'll get to finish the bottomless pit or not before the big H... Will try though.
I finall figured out how to put videos on from Photobucket!!!! So now I have videos for you from 2007 and 2008. No 2009, as all of the photos and videos were lost in the computer crash :(((((((
I decided to make a Swamp Monster / Ghillie suit costume for my haunts. It is a versatile and simple scare good for most haunt themes. I have purchased the burlap, yarn and leaves. We'll just see how this one goes. I shall post pictures as I go.
If it is possible, we will create/build two new props this year:
Crate Monster & Bottomless Pit A few more things are needed to purchase to create them but the bottomless pit will probably be the easiest to make and be able to break down. Good thing for HalloweenForum.Com for helping me build the crate monster! I got some pallets to start making the entrance to the Haunted Mine. I got 12 to start out with because I have to tear apart half of them to fill in the other half. We'll see how this goes.
I just noticed that I tend to but things not on a theme-based way. I just buy things that are on sale and I HAVE to have right then and then figure out a theme and try to incorporate the things I already have. I WILL, however, try to build more props this year. I am always on the HauntForum and they have GREAT tips, tricks and tutorials on how to make things.
